A Short Course designed to deliver practical farming techniques, ideas, problem solving for people interested in the Cattle Industry. A "hands on" course for new farmers or people interested in purchasing a farm.
This course is conducted on a working farm and the practical side covers cattle handling, drenching, vaccinating, injecting, ear tagging, freeze branding, castration etc.
This course takes a model farm of 100 acres that is a bit run down and sets about redesigning and altering to a suitable running farm. With the setting up and running of this model farm we cover both theory and practical modules and incorporates the following.
Basic Understanding of Farming Principles (breed selection/number of head to run)
Function Farm Planning (location/topography/soil/grazeable area etc organic farming)
Cattle Yarding & Movement Facilities (setting up/correcting workable yards/crush-fencing-electric/permanent/cattle care)
